Loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt -

Nancy Ann (Mummert) Neveker, age 81, of Sykesville, passed away at her son’s home on Sunday, December 30, 2018.  Nancy was born on Friday, November 5, 1937 in Boiling Springs to the late Walter Glen Mummert and Anna Elizabeth (VanAsdalan) Mummert.  Nancy was the widow of Julius David Neveker, Sr. whom she married on June 30, 1963, and who died on March 22, 2015.  In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy is preceded in death by her brother, George Mummert.

Nancy’s survivors include her two sons: Walter Russell Neveker and his best friend, Rachel, of Mechanicsburg, PA, Julius “Jib” David Neveker, Jr. and his companion, Sue Hagar, of Gulfport, FL; her three grandchildren: Bailey, Brodey, Brevin; her brother, Russell “Russ” Mummert and his wife, Reathea, of Goshen, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy was raised in the Deep Creek Lake/Oakland area in Maryland.  She graduated from Northern High School in Garrett County, MD as part of the class of 1955.  She worked as a registered nurse in the Baltimore area for 65 years.  Nancy was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Winfield, MD.  She loved going to Deep Creek Lake and spending time in the area where she grew up.  Nancy enjoyed attending her sons’ and grandsons’ ice hockey games as well as Walter’s local and college baseball games.  She loved spending time with her family and would do anything for her boys.  Nancy was also very close with her younger brother, Russ, and the two had a “special bond” with one another.  She liked shopping, cooking, and going out to eat at Salerno’s Restaurant in Eldersburg, MD for Maryland crabs.

All are welcome to join Nancy’s family at her memorial service on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Haight Funeral Home and Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville, MD 21784.  Cremation was private.
