A Loving Man & Proud Veteran -

Neff Walker, Jr., 88, of Carlisle , and formerly of Mechanicsburg , died at Carlisle Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, February 6, 2013.  He was born in Mechanicsburg, on Monday, August, 18, 1924, son of the late Neff Walker, Sr. and Henrietta E. (Bardall) Walker.  Neff was the widower of Mary Elizabeth (Peace) Walker who died on December 14, 1960.

Neff’s survivors include his loving children, Marty Walker Wagner of Carlisle, Bob Walker, Sr. and his wife Linda of Camp Hill, Calvin R. Walker and his wife Joyce of Chambersburg, Tammy Shumaker and her fiancé Doug Chestnut of Carlisle; his brother, Richard Walker of Arizona; his two sisters, Ruth Foltz of Mechanicsburg, Edith Shelly of Mechanicsburg; his ten grandchildren; his two great grandchildren with one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.  Among those preceding Neff in death are his two sons, five daughters, one grandchild, three brothers and one sister.

Neff was a proud Army Veteran of World War II who was awarded the Bronze Star .  He took part in the Invasion of Normandy , the Battle of the Bulge and he served in Nuremburg during the war trials.  Neff was a member of the Order of Eagles in Carlisle, American Legion #101 in Carlisle, VFW #6704 in Mechanicsburg, DAV in Camp Hill and the Laborers Local #1180 in Harrisburg.  He was a long-time former member of Young's United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg.  Above all, Neff was a truly loving man who shared his love with many and especially with his family who he adored.

All are welcome to join Neff’s family at his viewing on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, from 9:00 until time of service at 10:30 at Young's United Methodist Church , 7075 Wertzville Road, Mechanicsburg, PA  17050, with Pastor Robert Bishard, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church (Old Stone Church) Cemetery in Mechanicsburg, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard .  Honored to be pallbearers are: Don Conley, Cody Shumaker, Kyle Shumaker, Chad Walker, Cole Walker, JR Walker and Kerry Walker.
