Nelson Leroy Bostic, 91, of Mechanicsburg , died peacefully at home and surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 21, 2013. He was born in New Freedom, on Friday, December 30, 1921, son of the late Norman Bostic and Helen (Parr) Bostic Beard. Nelson was the widower of Alice Anna Harper (Harris) Bostic to whom he was married for 50 years.
Nelson’s survivors include his loving children, Susan L. Stanskas and her husband Peter of Texas, Peter N. Bostic and his wife Irene of Quakertown, Scott Bostic and his wife Amy of Ivyland, Todd Bostic of Mechanicsburg, Ann P. Smith and her husband Stephen of MD, Timothy B. Bostic and his husband Tony London of VA; ten grandchildren, John Stanskas, David Stanskas and his wife Tammi, Stacey Best and her husband Josh, Jennifer Bostic, P. Christopher Bostic, Thomas Bostic and his wife Erin, John Bostic and his wife Julie, Lori Bostic, Peter Smith, Jacqueline Smith; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Among those preceding Nelson in death are his grandson, James Bostic; his siblings, Helen “Sis”, Donald, Norman, Raymond “Buzz” and Betty.
Nelson graduated from New Freedom High School as part of the class of 1939 and from Penn State University in 1942 with a degree in Accounting. He retired from NAVRESO in 1989 after 25 years of service working as a financial manager. Nelson loved to play bridge, was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening and fishing. He was a kind and loving man who will be sorely missed.
All are welcome to join Nelson’s family at his Gathering of Family and Friends on Friday, July 26, 2013, from 9:00 until time of service at 9:45 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Pastor Alan Echard officiating.
Burial along with his wife’s urn will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, where military honors will be presented. Cremation was private.
Nelson’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his home following the interment. The family suggests memorial contributions to Molly’s Place Animal Rescue , 5220 East Trindle Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
