A Loyal and Generous Man -

Nicholas “Nick” Robert Vogl, age 29, of Mechanicsburg, passed away suddenly after a swimming accident and went to his final home on Saturday, June 24, 2017.  Nick was born on Saturday, April 9, 1988 in Harrisburg to Brian John Vogl and Patricia “Patti” Ann (Ensslen) Vogl.  He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Edward Vogl; his paternal grandmother, Flora Gaynor (Mowry) Vogl; and his maternal step-grandfather, Russell Gavlak.

Nick’s survivors include his loving parents, Brain and Patti Vogl of Mechanicsburg; his brother, Benjamin “Ben” Vogl and his fiancé, Brittany, of Camp Hill; his maternal grandmother, Pat Gavlak of Mechanicsburg; his maternal grandfather, Bob Ensslen and his wife, Sandy, and their daughter, Anysia, of Mechanicsburg; his maternal aunt and uncle: Barb Goll and her husband, Bruce, of Camp Hill, Bobby Ensslen and his wife, Terry, of Gilead, ME; his paternal uncles and aunt: Mark and his wife, Barbara, of Big Sandy, TX, Kevin and his wife, JoAnn, of Coral Springs, FL, Greg and his wife, Chris, of Mount Dora, FL, Sharon of Fairfax, VA; his paternal cousins: Kelly Vogl, Julie Czerechowski, Kristen Vogl, Robert Vogl, Stephanie Vogl, Amanda LeFranc and her husband, Jesse; and his maternal cousins: Jessica Ensslen, Christina Miller and her husband, Ryan, Jenny Kane and her husband, Mike, Phil Mertine, Kelsey Goll, Rachel Ensslen, and Hunter Cline.

Nick graduated from Mechanicsburg Area High School as part of the class of 2006 and from Harrisburg Area Community College in 2011 from the IEC Electrician Apprenticeship Program where he earned his Journeyman Electrician Certification.  He loved his job at Rite Aid Corporation in Shiremanstown where he served as a repair technician.  Nick’s coworkers delighted in working with him and they loved having such a hardworking associate by their side.  Recently, Nick had earned the Employee of the Quarter Award for his phenomenal work and achievements at Rite Aid.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg.

As Nick was growing up he played all different types of sports, but golf became his absolute favorite.  In high school, Nick joined the golf team and found that to be a passion of his that continued into his adulthood.  He liked to follow all kinds of sports, especially the Philadelphia Eagles and LeBron James.  Nick had a great sense of humor and an even better sense of style; he always looked good everywhere he went.  The most important thing to Nick was his family; he loved all of his cousins and considered them to be his siblings.  He was always looking forward to the next time they would all get together.  Nick loved the holidays, particularly Christmas Eve, since it meant the entire family would all be near one another.  He also cherished the time they would spend on vacations together, specifically in Ocean City, NJ.  Nick and his brother were very close and they shared an exceptionally special and strong bond.  He was a generous man with an immensely huge heart; Nick will be missed for his wit, loyalty, and beautiful personality.

All are welcome to join Nick’s family at his memorial service on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 135 West Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Dr. Dennis Keller officiating.  Cremation was private.

In honor of Nick’s generous and giving spirit, the family suggests that everyone helps keep his memory alive by serving and assisting those who are less fortunate as Nick did.
