Norval Pemberton Thrush, 83, of Mechanicsburg , died at Manor Care Health Services in Carlisle on Sunday, January 6, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with diabetes. He was born in Harrisburg, on Monday, May 27, 1929 son of the late Raymond Boris Thrush and Mary (Myers) Thrush. Norval was the husband of Edna Rebecca (Eberly) Thrush whom he married on October 20, 1951.
Norval graduated from Lower Paxton High School as part of the class of 1948. He retired from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, after11 years of service working as a traveling salesman. Norval was formerly employed with Christian Publications for over 25 years and UGI in Harrisburg. He was a member of Discover Church in Camp Hill. Norval was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was an avid golfer who loved playing many different local courses and courses in Myrtle Beach.
Norval’s survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Edna; three sons, Dr. Allan L. Thrush and his wife Lynda of Mechanicsburg, Larry P. Thrush and his wife Cindy of Spring, TX; Mark N. Thrush and his wife Diana of Lodi, CA; 10 grandchildren, Tracy L. Harper, Terri L. Cohee, Gary A. Thrush, Kevin P. Thrush, Kristy Hutchins, Jenny Patterson, Matthew B. Thrush, Caleb Thrush, Samuel M. Thrush, and Sierra R. Thrush; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, George E. Thrush of Harrisburg and several nieces and nephew.
All are welcome to join Norval’s family at his Graveside Service with Military Honors at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 14, 2013, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery , with Reverend James H. Grumbine Jr. officiating. Cremation was private.
