Orlando “Oz” F. Nicholson, Jr.

Loved Jesus and His Family -

Orlando “Oz” F. Nicholson, Jr., age 73, of Mechanicsburg , has gone to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 26, 2015.  Oz was born on Thursday, July 2, 1942 in Harrisburg to the late Orlando Nicholson, Sr. and Marie (Bradford) Nicholson.  In addition to his parents, Oz is preceded in death by his grandson, Daniel Webster, Jr.

Oz’s survivors include his loving wife of almost 21 years, Eileen (Obara) Nicholson; his six children: Susan McCurdy and her husband, Larry, of Mechanicsburg, Sharon Bowers of Mechanicsburg, Rosanne Daub of Williamstown, PA, Heather DeWitt and her husband, Ben, of York, PA, Patrick Silbaugh of Seward, PA, Michelle Saintz and her husband, Mike, of Johnstown, PA; his nine grandchildren: LaVon and Clayton Richardson, Frank, Kelly, and Dale Yinger, Ronald and Madeline Daub, Brennon DeWitt, Brandon Saintz; his nine great-grandchildren; his five siblings: Audrey Holbrook of Texas, Bill Weary of Wormleysburg, PA, Linda Nusbaum and her husband, Martin, of Cross Keys, PA, Thomas Nicholson and his wife, Karen, of Carlisle, Scott Nicholson and his wife, Oleta, of Eugene, OR; and several nieces and nephews.

Oz attended Cumberland Valley High School .  He retired from Harley-Davidson in York, after over 30 years of service working as a machinist and in other various positions.  Oz was a member of Immanuel Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Mechanicsburg, where he served as a trustee and enjoyed doing projects to help maintain the building.  Being very handy and wanting to help everyone, Oz was a go-to handyman for many. Some of his favorite pastimes were golfing, riding motorcycles, and passionately rooting for Penn State football and Joe Paterno.  He was known as a master joke-teller and he loved to make people laugh; even when he was sick, Oz made everyone at his doctor’s office laugh at every visit.  Most of all, Oz loved Jesus and his family.  He was the heart and soul of his wife; and Eileen is grateful for all of the years they shared and to have been the one to take care of Oz.

All are welcome to join Oz’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Saturday, September 12, 2015, from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Christian & Missionary Alliance Church , 800 South Market Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  Oz’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church following the memorial service.  Cremation was private.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to the beautiful people who lovingly cared for Oz; including his surgeon, Dr. Salvatore Parascandola, all of the nurses and doctors at Andrews & Patel Associates, P.C. , and all of the nurses on the Sixth Floor at Holy Spirit Hospital .

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Immanuel Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 800 South Market Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
