Oscar William Eslinger, Jr., age 75, of Mechanicsburg , died peacefully at the home of his daughter, Sherry Eslinger on Sunday, September 7, 2014. Oscar was born on Wednesday, March 22, 1939, in Carlisle Springs to the late Oscar William Eslinger, Sr. and Emma Kathern (McCalister) Eslinger. In addition to his parents, Oscar is preceded in death by his sister, Barb Swartz.
Oscar’s survivors include his children: Sherry Eslinger of Mechanicsburg, Mark Eslinger of Mt. Holly Springs; his step-daughter Karen Gottshall of Mt. Holly Springs; his grandchildren: Derek Jumper and his girlfriend Heather Moore of Mt. Holly Springs, Danielle Bretzman of Mechanicsburg, Curtis Weidner of Mechanicsburg, Corey Weidner of Mechanicsburg; his great-grandchildren: Conner Jumper, Bryce Jumper, Payton Weidner; his niece Jade Jacobs and his nephew Rip Swartz, and Loette Mae Eslinger.
Oscar graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1958. He retired from PPG in Mt. Holly Springs, after 26 years of service. Oscar was a US Army Veteran . He was a member of American Legion Post # 109, Mechanicsburg. Oscar enjoyed taking trips to see covered bridges, waterfalls and Civil War Battlefields in Gettysburg. He was a quiet, independent man with a great sense of humor.
Cremation and interment with military honors in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be private and at the family’s convenience.
