Patricia “Pat” Ann (Bond) Morey, age 80, of Edgewater, FL and Mechanicsburg , died at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Pat was born on Friday, June 15, 1934 in Cleveland, OH, to the late Vance James Bond and Alice Elizabeth (Beheler) Bond. Pat was the widow of James Thomas Morey, whom she married on September 4, 1953, and who died on February 8, 2004. In addition to her parents and husband, Pat is preceded in death by her daughter, Valarie Morey; and her siblings: Albert, Alfred, James, and Joy.
Pat’s survivors include her children: James “Jim” T. Morey II and his wife, Ann, of Mechanicsburg, Vance D. Morey and his wife, Missy, of Camp Hill, Jeffrey A. Morey and his wife, Laura, of Mechanicsburg; her six grandchildren: Brice, Paige, Jimmy, Capri, Jake, Luke; and her brother, Vance Bond, of Ohio.
Pat worked at Industries Limited , VFW Headquarters in Harrisburg, and Book-of-the-Month Club in Mechanicsburg. She was a member of the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary Mechanicsburg Post #6704 . Pat enjoyed socializing with family and neighbors during get-togethers and card clubs. She had so much fun playing cards that she started a neighborhood card club when she moved to Florida. She and her husband liked to go out and tear up a dance floor. Pat loved to swim, and particularly loved the ocean and the beach. She would take the family to the Jersey Shore for the day and liked to drive on road trips as far away as Arizona. Pat expressed her artistic nature through needlepoint and latch hook crafts. She had a green thumb with plants; making poinsettias last for years and salvaging plants that her fellow residents would throw away. Pat’s sons remember her excellent cooking and sneaking her famous apple squares in the middle of the night so that the pan would be almost empty in the morning.
All are welcome to join Pat’s family at gathering of family and friends on Monday, February 2, 2015, from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. at Shiremanstown United Methodist Church , 125 East Main Street, Shiremanstown, PA 17011; with Pastor Logan Garth Swanger officiating. Pat’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at the church following the service. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville will be private and at the family’s convenience. Cremation was private.
