Patricia Perry, “Pat” as she was affectionately referred to, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 11, 2023. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. Pat was born on Friday, May 2, 1947, in Honolulu, HI to the late Stanley A. Guise and Dorothy L. (Russell) Guise. Pat was the widow of Edward “Ed” P. Perry III, whom she married on November 29, 1980, and who died on October 9, 1986. In addition to her parents and husband, Pat is preceded in death by her brother: Jere M. Guise.
Pat’s survivors include her two daughters: Jessica L. Williams and her husband, Joel, of New Cumberland, Alicia N. Perry and her husband, Darren Campbell, of Tempe, AZ; her two grandchildren: Joel A. Williams IV, and Mason E. Williams; her two siblings: Dorothy “Dotty” L. Guise of Lakewood, CO, and Roger W. Guise and his wife, Diana, of Mt. Wolf; and several nieces and nephews.
Pat accomplished many great things during her 76 years on Earth – she raised two wonderful daughters and was a big part of her nieces and nephews’ lives. Her pride and joy were her two grandchildren, JJ and Mason, whom she referred to as “the little rascals.” Pat enjoyed traveling, her first adventure abroad started with a two-year post in Vietnam as a Donut Dolly with the American Red Cross. While stationed there, she ran recreation centers for the soldiers, even meeting up with her brother Roger who was serving in the US Army at that time. After Vietnam Pat joined the Peace Corps and lived in Jamaica for over a year. Her travels continued throughout the years, she saw the Passion Play in Bavaria, Germany, as well as attending Oktoberfest in Munich. She visited the Great Wall of China, snorkeled in the Galapagos, saw the Northern Lights in Iceland, traveled throughout England, Ireland and Scotland, and spent time in Australia and Thailand. She was also an avid traveler within the US, she saw the Iditarod in Alaska, enjoyed the beaches of Hawaii, visited numerous National Parks, attended the ‘96 Olympics in Atlanta, GA, walked on the glass Skywalk over the Grand Canyon, and traveled down Pacific Highway 1 in California. When not traveling, Pat enjoyed gardening and watching PBS mysteries.
Pat was a great mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and a friend to so many. She was strong-willed, determined and faced challenges head on, but she was also extremely generous and enjoyed helping others. In addition to the infamous bamboo she planted in her backyard (which quickly got out of control!), she will always be remembered for her love of all things leopard print. Preceded in death by her loving husband Ed, we take comfort knowing that they are together. In addition to her family and friends, as her headstone states, “sadly missed by your girls.”
All are welcome to join Pat’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend George Spangler officiating.
