Always Clowning Around -
Patricia “Pat” Ann (Powley) Nissel, age 73, of New Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 19, 2021, following a battle with cancer. Pat was born on Wednesday, November 19, 1947, in Harrisburg to the late Richard Lee Powley, Sr. and Anna Mae (Eichelberger) Powley. Pat was the widow of Urban Nissel, whom she married on April 30, 1994, and who died on March 25, 1995.
Pat’s survivors include her two siblings: Susan “Sue” J. Fearnbaugh and husband, Ray, of Mechanicsburg, Richard L. Powley, Jr. and wife, Judy, of Enola; and several nieces and nephews.
Pat graduated from Cedar Cliff High School as part of the class of 1965. She retired from Harrisburg Uptown United Methodist Ministries at Camp Curtain – Mitchell United Methodist Church in Harrisburg after 20 years. Pat worked as a cook in the soup kitchen, helped serve meals, and later as a member of the street ministry team. She was a member of the Mid-Atlantic Clown Association and the Mid Penn Merrymakers. Her many clown friends knew her as Rev. Loolu and will miss her greatly.
All are welcome to join Pat’s family at her viewing on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; and her graveside service at 12:00 p.m. in Tri-County Memorial Gardens, 740 Wyndamere Road, Lewisberry, PA 17339; with Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in celebration of Pat’s life can be made to any charity of the donor’s choosing.
