Patrick “Pat” Eugene Doherty, 52, of Mechanicsburg , lost his courageous six year struggle against colon cancer on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at home and with his loving family by his side, as they had been for the past six years. Pat was born in Philadelphia, on Tuesday, August 9, 1960, son of Clarice Marie (Costigan) Doherty who survives him and the late Edward Patrick Doherty.
Pat’s survivors include his loving wife of 28 years, Elizabeth “Liz” Firth Doherty whom he married on June 23, 1984; his three loving children, Elizabeth Firth Doherty of New Jersey, Brian Patrick Doherty of Lancaster, Allison Virginia Doherty of Pittsburgh; his brother, Edward Doherty; his two sisters, Susan Doherty-Funke, Catherine Goodenough; and his nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
Graduating from Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia, Pat went on to Temple University where he received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Business in 1984. He then spent 22 years with United Parcel Service (UPS) and eight years with Bobby Rahal Toyota as a sales consultant. He was a joyous and humorous person who supported the endeavors of his family and friends. Pat enjoyed golf, ice hockey, softball, bowling, traveling and most of all spending time with those close to him.
All are welcome to join Pat’s family at his Gathering of Family & Friends on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 , from 1:00 to 4:00 with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at 2:30 at Silver Spring Banquet Center , 6471 Carlisle Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, with Celebrant Mary Medkeff-Rose officiating. Cremation was private. Pat’s family hopes that their family and friends will join them for this time of food, fellowship, remembrance and celebration of Pat’s life.
