Patrick “Pat” Thomas Holtzman, I
Patrick “Pat” Thomas Holtzman I, age 80, of Camp Hill, and formerly of Lancaster, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family. Pat was born on September 27, 1942, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to the late Leo J. Sr. and Dorothy C. (Tompkins) Holtzman. In addition to his parents, Pat is preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Carolyn E. (McGuire) Holtzman, his brother Leo J. Holtzman Jr., his granddaughter, Alexis J. Holtzman; and his great-granddaughter, Norah J. Sourbeer.
Pat is survived by his four loving children: Mary Kay Tkacs and husband, Bill, of Mt. Holly, NJ, Anita Aveni of Camp Hill, Mickey Sourbeer and husband, Mitch, of Pequea, Patrick Holtzman II and wife, Becky, of Coulterville, IL; his eight grandchildren: Brandon Holtzman, Amber Wiltz (Matt Wiltz), Sean Aveni, Devin Kempfer, Steven Sourbeer and wife, Lyta, Brian Sourbeer and fiancé LeAnne Kile, Kaylee Holtzman and Ashton Holtzman; his six great-grandchildren: Jayden Wiltz, Arianah Wiltz, Jaxon Sourbeer, Logan Holtzman, Holden Sourbeer and Owen Sourbeer; he is also survived by his twin sister Patricia A. (Holtzman) Nicandro, of Johnstown; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine companions: Calamity “Booboo” and Rebound “Rebee”.
Pat was a 1961 graduate of Johnstown High School. He was employed by Raybestos Manhattan and Penn Manor School District; however, his favorite position of all was taking care of his grandson Sean “Pappap’s Bud”. Pat loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed annual family vacations. He was an avid fisherman, he looked forward to his annual competitive fishing trips to Canada with his lifelong best friend, Ronald “Larry” Harris of Pequea. He also enjoyed gardening, country music, and playing cards. “Daddy, you were an amazing, honest, loyal, caring and loving father, you instilled essential moral values in us and set an example for us to follow ensuring we each succeeded in our own way. For that we are eternally grateful. You showed us how to love unconditionally. You were our rock, our hero and the greatest daddy in the world. You will remain forever in our hearts until we see you again. We love you daddy, Mary Kay, Anita, Mickey and PT.
Pat’s children would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center staff, his Palliative care team, Hospice of Central Pennsylvania (Ladybug team), and the Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory for the outstanding care they all provided and compassion they displayed during this most difficult time. You are all truly very special people!
Pat’s family will be remembering his life privately. Interment in Oak Cemetery in Johnstown will be at the family’s convenience. Cremation was private.
