Dedicated His Life to the Church -

Paul Leroy Cramer, age 94, of Mechanicsburg , died on Saturday, June 6, 2015.  Paul was born on Thursday, May 12, 1921 in West Fairview to the late Elmer J. Cramer and Martha Blanche (Stout) Cramer.  Paul was the widower of Helen Beatrice Cramer, whom he married on August 4, 1957, and who died on July 22, 1996.  In addition to his parents and his wife, Paul is preceded in death by his two sisters: Helen P. Cramer and Marian W. Kipp.

Paul’s survivors include his brother, Roy N. Cramer; his close friend, John L. Behel of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Paul graduated from Mechanicsburg Area High School .  He is a World War II veteran who served in the Army Air Force from 1943 to 1945, where he earned an Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters . Paul served in the European Theatre in the 15 th Air Force and the 98 th Bombardment Group. He retired as a local licensed barber in Mechanicsburg, after 69 years of service.  Paul was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg, where he sang in the choir and played in the orchestra for 60 years. He also organized a church library and was a librarian for 32 years.  He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 109 and the Washington Fire Company. Paul served on the board of New Hope Ministries and was the treasurer for the Mechanicsburg Area Council of Churches for 15 years. He sang in the Grantham Oratorio Society for 14 years and in the Mechanicsburg Ecumenical Choir for 16 years.

All are welcome to join Paul’s family at his viewing on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 135 West Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Michael V. Minnix officiating.

Burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard .
