A Good Man -

Paul Eugene Jones, age 89, of Okeechobee, FL, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, PA, died at the Hamrick Home of Hospice of Okeechobee on Monday, May 2, 2016.  Paul was born on Saturday, March 12, 1927, in Shippensburg, PA to the late Oliver Paul Jones and Florence Ellen (Shetter) Jones.  Paul was the widower of Olga Jones, whom he married in 1966, and who died in 2003.  In addition to his parents and wife, Paul is preceded in death by his brother, Howard Jones.

Paul’s survivors include his loving wife of nine years, Martha (Scarce) Jones; his four children: Richard “Rich” Jones and his wife, Josephine, of New Cumberland, PA, Ronald “Ron” Jones and his wife, Brenda, of Dillsburg, PA, Sharon Garman of Carlisle, PA, and Rodger Jones of Hummelstown, PA; his six grandchildren; and his eleven great-grandchildren.

Paul served in the United States Navy during World War II.  He retired from Hempt Bros., Inc in Mechanicsburg in 1985, after 32 years of service working as a master mechanic.  Paul was a former member of Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church.  He was a member of various American Legions and VFWs.   Paul was a member of the Cumberland Valley Masonic Lodge #315 in Shippensburg, Shriner’s International, and was a 32 nd degree Mason.  He absolutely loved Florida; he enjoyed being on the water, fishing, playing cards with his buddies, and boating.  Olga and Paul even owned the Eastern Shore Marina together.  Paul’s family will remember him as a good and hard-working man.

All are welcome to join Paul’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Thursday, May 5, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until time of prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Myrtle E. McCall officiating.  Burial will be on Friday, May 6, 2016, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville at 9:00 a.m., where military honors will be presented.

Contributions in celebration of Paul’s life can be made to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
