Peggy Ann (Dupler) Herchelroath

Peggy “Peg” Ann (Dupler) Herchelroath, age 71, of Mechanicsburg was being comforted by her family when she was embraced by the angels on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.  Peg was born on Monday, June 9, 1947 in Lower Swatara Township to the late Walter Shank Dupler and Mildred Esther (Stum) Dupler.  In addition to her parents, Peg is preceded in death by brother, Ronald Dupler.

Peg’s survivors include her husband of 47 years, John Russell Herchelroath, Jr.; her two sons: Jacob “Jake” Thomas Herchelroath and his wife, Vita, of Mechanicsburg and Matthrew “Matt” John Herchelroath, of Mechanicsburg; her granddaughter, Natalia;  her three brothers; her two sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

Peg graduated from Middletown High School as part of the class of 1966.  In 2009, she retired from Highmark in Harrisburg after many years of service as an analyst.  Peg was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg.  She delighted in dancing with her husband, John, and they belonged to Capital City Polka Dancers Association.  Peg was an avid reader who was in heaven when she could spend most of a day on her Kindle.  She relished decorating for holidays, especially Christmas, when she displayed her many Santa Claus decorations with pride.  Peg enjoyed car trips through the countryside and baking delicious cookies.  The light of Peg’s life was her precious granddaughter, Natalia, and she cherished the time spent with her family above all.

All are welcome to join Peg’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Thursday, May 9, 2019, from 5:30 p.m. until time of her prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Timothy Sahd officiating.  Cremation was private.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to everyone at the Neuroscience Critical Care Unit at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center who so lovingly cared for Peg during her illness.
