Philip George Alvarez, age 57, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. George was born on Saturday, May 25, 1963, in Fort Belvoir, VA to Philip Alvarez and the late Mildred (Neal) Alvarez.
George’s survivors include his father, Philip Alvarez of Mechanicsburg; his brother: John David Alvarez and wife, Rachael Easton, of Berwyn; and his nephew, Mateo Alvarez of Berwyn.
George graduated from Cedar Run School as part of the class of 1984. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known as a prankster, especially during Halloween. He loved to try to scare people. George also enjoyed collecting horror movies and books. He competed in the Special Olympics and won many medals in the swimming and bowling events. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
All are welcome to join George’s family at his celebration of life open house and gathering of family and friends on Saturday, July 24, 2021, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a time of remembrance at 2:00 p.m. at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory. Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of the parking lots. Cremation was private.
