Philomena “Minnie” Marie (Tate) Swank, age 91, of Mechanicsburg, died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Tuesday, April 12, 2016.  Minnie was born on Thursday, March 12, 1925, in Lattimer Mines, PA to the late Anthony Tate and Anna (Lyate) Tate.  Minnie was the widow of Charles Joseph Swank, Sr., whom she married on October 27, 1956, and who died on May 14, 1986.  In addition to her parents and husband, Minnie is preceded in death by her four brothers and two sisters.

Minnie’s survivors include her two sons: Robert Swank of Mechanicsburg, Charles Swank, Jr. and his wife, Aime é; and their children: Nicole and Samantha; and her daughter, Aliyah, all of Mechanicsburg .

Minnie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg since 1965, where she loved playing bingo.  She enjoyed playing at Temple Beth Shalom and the Elk’s Club as well.  Minnie was an avid reader and her favorite books were romance novels, especially the Harlequin Romance series.  She found an interest in needlepoint and liked meeting with her friends for their card club.  A true master homemaker, Minnie was a great cook and baker, and she always kept a clean and impeccable house.  Minnie was a good mom and wife who had a deep love for her granddaughters and great-granddaughter.

All are welcome to join Minnie’s family at her viewing on Friday, April 15, 2016, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Myers -Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with a special time of prayer at 11:45 a.m.; and her Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 East Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Rev. Jose Elias Mera Vallejos officiating.  Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.  Minnie’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Hoss’s Steak & Sea House, 61 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, following the burial.
