Phyllis Ann (Gust) Ivey

Phyllis Ann (Gust) Ivey, age 89, of Mechanicsburg, died on Saturday, December 23, 2023.  Phyllis was born on Friday, June 15, 1934, in Waukegan, IL to the late Anton Gust and Jeanette (Mrozowski) Gust.  Phyllis was the widow of William Thorburn Ivey Jr, whom she married on August 15, 1954, and who died on January 19, 2019.  In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis is preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Andrea Ivey; her sister, Sherrie Dittmer; and her loyal canine companions: Dulcie and Rosey.

Phyllis’s survivors include her four children: Pamela Zeiders and her husband, David, of Camp Hill, Mark Ivey and his wife, Esther, of Mechanicsburg, David Ivey and his wife, Carol, of Mechanicsburg, Thomas Ivey and his wife, Melanie, of Colorado; her 11 grandchildren; and her five great-grandchildren. 

Phyllis attended Christian Life Assembly in Camp Hill.  She was a woman of faith who was always involved in activities of all sorts.  Phyllis was friendly and welcoming: a friend to all who knew her.  She enjoyed the company of others, and was a devoted and passionate mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Phyllis will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known her. 

All are welcome to join Phyllis’s family at her viewing on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant Patti Vogl celebrating.  Phyllis’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service.  Burial will follow the reception in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill. 

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to everyone at Bridges at Bent Creek who so lovingly cared for Phyllis during her time there.

While Phyllis’s family will not be accepting flowers, they invite those wishing to celebrate Phyllis’s life with a memorial contribution to make them to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
