Ralph F. Fenstermacher Jr., 78, of New Cumberland, died Monday, February 12, 2018 at Holy Spirit Hospital with his family by his side.

Ralph was born and raised in Harrisburg, PA.  He attended John Harris High School and enjoyed roller-skating, dancing, working out and boxing.  Ralph was a hardworking and talented craftsman that contributed to his community as a window washer, bridge painter, construction worker, and roofer.

In 1960, Ralph married Shirley Eagle, and after having three children, they moved to New Cumberland as their permanent residence where he continued roofing.  His children remember attending physique contests and watching their father demonstrate his commitment to health and wellness.

Today, the town of New Cumberland is a little sadder without the presence of Big Ralph.  He loved to walk to stores, talk to friends, and eat out.  Other pastimes included collecting coins, working out, and trying his luck with the lottery.  He loved all of his past and present pets with a great passion.

People driving through New Cumberland would look to the skies to see which roof Ralph happened to be fixing on any given day.  Now we look up on Ralph and know that he is looking down on those that he knows and loves.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Shirley; his sister, Toots Marshall; his children: Ralph Fenstermacher III, Jeanne Jordahl, Theresa Day; his daughter-in-law, Shelby Crumlich; his grandchildren: Mandy Shepherd, Danielle Kohr, David Jordahl, Chase Emanuel, Christopher Day, Carly Kleckner, and Katey Merola; his seven great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Fenstermacher, Sr. and Millie Elva, along with his brothers: Dave, Sonny, Ritty; his sisters: Jean and Glena; and his great granddaughter, Laney Rayne.

Ralph will be remembered as a kind and hardworking husband, father, brother, and Pappy.  His family will always appreciate the work that he put in to provide for his family, and for the dedication that he gave in everything he did.  The family is thankful for all thoughts and prayers at this time.

All are welcome to join Ralph’s family for his memorial reception on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the West Shore Senior Center, 122 Geary Avenue, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
