Randall “Randy” Ivan Pressley, 75, of Mechanicsburg , died at ManorCare Health Services in Carlisle, on Sunday, March 17, 2013. He was born in Harrisburg, on Friday, January 7, 1938, son of the late Gertrude Ruth Pressley.
Randy’s survivors include his two daughters, Renata Sue Snavely and her husband Tom of Grantville, Rhonda Heiges and her husband Jeffrey of Enola; his son, Rusty Pressley and his wife Tracey of Lewisberry; seven grandchildren, Richie, Nick, Randy, Kallie, Hannah, Tanner, Austin; and one great-grandson, Levi. Among those preceding Randy in death is his special uncle, Harry Ivan Pressley.
Randy graduated from Greenwood High School in Millerstown as part of the class of 1956. He retired as an independent truck driver in 2005. Randy served in the US Army in the 519th Transportation Co (CAR) USAREUR in Heidelberg, Germany. As the former owner of RRP Racing in Mechanicsburg, he was fond of sprint car racing and enjoyed watching races at the former Silver Spring Speedway . Randy’s love of the Phillies greatly outweighed that of other fans. His daughter, Rhonda, won’t forget his favorite saying, “Never swing at the first pitch”. Randy always enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He loved New England in the fall. Randy was known to only wash the hood of his cars, claiming “that’s all the driver sees”.
All are welcome to join Randy’s family at his viewing on Thursday, March 21, 2013, from 1:30 until time of service at 3:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Chaplain Mary Medkeff-Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard . Honored to be pallbearers are: Richard Beekler, Randall Beekler, Kallie Heiges, Hannah Heiges, Matthew Anderson, Michael Anderson, and Nicholas Snavely. Honorary pallbearers are: Tanner Pressley and Austin Pressley. Randy’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his son’s home following the burial.
