Raymond “Stingray” Stanley Swain, 76, of Mechanicsburg died Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Holy Spirit Hospital.  He was born on  April 10, 1935 in Harrisburg the son of the late Roger Swain Jr., and Bernice Saltzman Swain.

He retired from ABF Trucking, Carlisle, working as an over the road truck driver for many years.  Raymond was a member of Teamsters Local #776.  Raymond loved driving truck and starting driving tractor trailors at the age of seventeen.   He was known as the “truck driving king”. He also loved motorcycles, cigars, going to Ocean City, Md., and his dogs.

Raymond’s survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 34 years: Peggy Ann (Spahr) Swain; one daughter: Michelle Prickett of Duncannon and her companion Joe Ondesko; two sons: Raymond March of New Cumberland; Brian March of Baltimore, Md.; two step-children; a sister Jeanette Hoffa of Jacksonville, Fl.; three brothers: his twin Leroy Swain of Fla.; Donnie Swain of Newville; Ronnie Swain of New Bloomfield; four grandsons; three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Among those preceding Raymond in death are three brothers: Richard, Glenn and Harold Swain; and two sisters: Beverly and Edna.

All are welcome to join Raymond’s family at his viewing on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, from 5:00 to 7:00. Immediately following the viewing a service will be held at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA, 17055, (717) 766-3421, www.Myers-Buhrig.com with Pastor Benjamin Isbell officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
