Richard “Dick” Neil Zarker, age 84, of Mechanicsburg, died at home on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Dick was born on Sunday, April 16, 1939, in Harrisburg to the late David Charles Zarker and Grace Elizabeth (Martin) Zarker. In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his two siblings: David Charles Zarker Jr. and Joyce Eileen Sipe.
Dick’s survivors include his wife of 64 years, Judith “Judy” Elaine (Kauffman) Zarker; his three children: Richard “Rick” Zarker of Shiremanstown, Deborah “Deb” Dodson of Mechanicsburg, and Michael “Mike” Zarker of Enola; his 8 grandchildren; his 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces and a nephew.
Dick attended Enola High School. He retired from the Patriot News in April 2001, after 42 years of proud service working as a pressman. Dick was a faithful member of Enola First Church of God. He will be dearly missed.
All are welcome to join Dick’s family at his viewing on Saturday, October 21, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a service beginning at 11:15 a.m. all at Enola Church of God, 9 Sherwood Drive, Enola, PA 17025, with Pastor George Jensen officiating. Burial will follow the service in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church cemetery in Enola. Dick’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, Dick’s family invites those wishing to celebrate Dick’s life with a memorial contribution to make them to Enola First Church of God, 9 Sherwood Drive, Enola, PA 17025 or to Doubling Gap Center – Camp Yolijwa, 1550 Doubling Gap Road, Newville, PA 17241.
