An Uncomplicated Man -
Richard Brinser Geisel, age 78, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021. Richard was born on Friday, July 2, 1943, in Williamsport to the late Richard C. Geisel and Elizabeth (Brinser) Geisel. In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his beloved canines: Terra, Cassie and Lili.
Richard’s survivors include his wife of 58 years, Nancy Ann (Worden) Geisel; his three sons: David Scott Geisel and wife, Christine, of Dillsburg; Stephen Richard Geisel and wife, Tammy McKee-Geisel, of Etters; and Michael Paul Geisel of Camp Hill; his seven grandchildren: Jeffrey Morrow, Madison Geisel, Jacob Geisel, McKenna Geisel, Hope Geisel, Lyndsay Geisel and Jaxon Geisel; and his two great-grandchildren: Brianna and Jaden.
Richard graduated from William Penn High School as part of the class of 1961 and attended Central Penn Business College, Thompson Institute and Harrisburg Area Community College. He retired from Capital Blue Cross in Harrisburg, after many years of service working as a manager of the systems department. Richard was a long-time member of St. James Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsburg, where he could be seen working outside the church, mowing the lawn and keeping the grounds looking neat and tidy. Richard was very active with the Hampden Youth Baseball Association. He was proud to have coached all three sons during their little league baseball careers. Richard also served as an officer with his neighborhood civic association. Richard loved to spend time playing golf with his friends and family; on many area golf courses. He was also an ardent fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Penn State Nittany Lion Football team; would often check the schedule on his iPad.
