Richard “Andy” F. Anderson, 68, of Boiling Springs died at Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home on Friday, June 8, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Harrisburg on Friday, July 9, 1943, son of Nila (Sides) Anderson, of Harrisburg and the late Franklin H. Anderson. Andy was the husband of Carole Anne (Stone) Anderson to whom he was married for almost 13 years.
Andy graduated from William Penn High School as part of the class of 1961. He achieved the rank of an Eagle Scout. Andy retired from The Patriot News in Harrisburg after more than 40 years of service working as a pressman. He was a member of Boiling Springs VFW Post #8851 ; a hunting camp in Driftwood, Pa; and a lifetime member of the NRA. Andy was known for his honesty, strength, bravery and dry sense of humor. Andy will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a great friend.
Andy’s survivors include his loving wife Carole; his mother Nila; three daughters, Alice L. Anderson and her companion Patrick Gilmore of Harrisburg, Amy E. Zilka and her husband David of Mechanicsburg, Sunny Goodyear and her husband John of Camp Hill; 8 grandchildren; a sister Virginia Anderson of New Cumberland; 4 stepchildren, Melinda Biggs and her husband Mark, Nathan Alexander, Damien Alexander and his wife Dana all of Mechanicsburg, Richard Alexander and his wife Kathy of Selbyville, DE; a step-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to join Andy’s family at his viewing on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 and on Thursday, June 14, 2012, from 10:00 until time of service at 10:30 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Pastor Tim Dugan officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will be private and at the convenience of the family in Rolling Green Memorial Park .
The family suggests memorial contributions to American Cancer Society , 117 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
