Msgt. Richard “Dick” Lee Freyser USAF Ret.
Mgst. Richard “Dick” Lee Freyser USAF Ret., age 79, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Chicago, IL and many locations around the world, passed away at the Lebanon VA Medical Center in Lebanon on Monday, August 23, 2021. Dick was born on Saturday, August 8, 1942, in Chicago, IL to the late Leon Freyser and Eleanor (Page) Tarrant. In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Lee Freyser, and his four siblings: Dennis Freyser, Joseph Freyser, Geraldine Freyser and Kathleen Wetz.
Dick’s survivors include his wife of 58 years, Loretta Jeanette (Majkrzak) Freyser; his three children: Lori Lee Crone and husband, Steve, of Dover; Tamatha Ann Kidd and husband, Chris, of Alexandria, VA; Richard “Rick” Lee Freyser, Jr. and wife, Cheryl, of Goldsboro; his two grandchildren: Dakota Freyser and Ariel Quimby; his sister, Sharon Ferber and significant other, Albert Vickers, of Dyer IN; and several nieces and nephews.
Dick graduated from Chicago Vocational High School as part of the class of 1961 and from Central Michigan University in 1983 with a degree in Master of Arts. He retired from The United States Air Force in Washington DC, after 25 years of service working as a Communication/Information Technology Technician. Dick was a lifelong member of the Salvation Army Corp, where he served as a soldier in Christ. He was a Legacy Life Member of VFW Post 6704 in Mechanicsburg, PA, Lifelong member of the American Philatelic Society, American Numismatic Society, Air Force Association, Non-Commissioned Officers Association & he was also a member of the American Legion Post 109 & member of the Vietnams Veterans of Mechanicsburg, PA.
All are welcome to join Dick’s family at his gathering of family & friends on Thursday, September 2, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Chaplain (Col) Douglas Etter officiating. Dick’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service. Entombment will follow the reception in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard. Honored to be pallbearers are: Steve Crone, Dakota Freyser, Chris Kidd and Stephen Kurtz.
