Richard “Dick” Boyd Ward

Richard “Dick” Boyd Ward, 90, of Mechanicsburg , died at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home on Wednesday, December 5, 2012.  He was born in Lemoyne, on Monday, May 1, 1922, son of the late John Cameron Ward and Edith (Gray) Ward.  Dick was the widower of Betty Jane (Long) Ward and Marion C. (Jeffries) Goodyear Ward.

Dick was proud to have served in the Army Air Corp during World War II from 1942 to 1945.  He worked for the railroad and built many houses in the local area including his own homes.  For over 35 years and until his retirement, Dick worked at Central Soya in Camp Hill.  He loved to hunt and fish and cherished the time he spent with his family.

Dick’s survivors include his children, Lois Snyder, Floyd Ward, Clifford Ward, Marta Laughman, Richard Ward, Pat Dayton, John Ward, Robert Ward, Irene Simpson, Jane Conley; his brother, Tom Ward; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  Among those preceding Dick in death are his four brothers, Vance, Tennis, Bob, Preston; his three sisters, Elva, Romaine, and Margaret.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to everyone at Griswold Special Care in Shiremanstown and Home Remedy in Harrisburg who so lovingly cared for Dick for over six years so he could remain in the comfort of his own home.

All are welcome to join Dick’s family at his viewing on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, from 9:00 to 10:45 with his service beginning at 11:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  Burial will immediately follow in Rolling Green Memorial Park in Camp Hill, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard .
