Richard “Dick” J. Wildman
Devoted To His Family -
Richard “Dick” J. Wildman, age 74, of Mechanicsburg, suddenly passed away at Holy Spirit Hospital on Sunday, December 25, 2016. Dick was born on Monday, March 23, 1942 in New Cumberland to the late Augustus Wildman IV and Thelma J. (Huddelston) Wildman. In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas “Tom” Wildman.
Dick’s survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Doris Mae (Lorah) Wildman; his two daughters: Traci Huffer and her husband, Chris, of Mechanicsburg, Julie Payne and her husband, Rick, of New Cumberland; and his four grandchildren: Nicole, Michelle, Jared, Nick.
Dick graduated from Cedar Cliff High School as part of the first graduating class in 1960. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Dick was the owner and operator for over 40 years of a model train store, called The Station in New Cumberland. This was a family business where Dick worked with his father and then his wife. To the family, customers were their friends and they embraced their community, making it the center of their business. The legacy that Dick and his family created at The Station will continue on.
Dick was a loyal fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and an avid baseball fan of all teams. He enjoyed playing golf, gardening vegetables, and being outdoors, especially at his cabin. Dick was an excellent provider who was devoted to his family, which was everything to him. He was a simple man who was down to earth and a hard worker. Dick will be remembered for all of his wonderful attributes and he will be missed dearly.
All are welcome to join Dick’s family at his gathering on Monday, January 9, 2017, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Shepherdstown United Methodist Church, 1934 South York Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Dr. Timothy R. Baer officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard after the service. Dick’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church following military honors. Burial will be at Brandonville Union Cemetery in Ringtown, PA at a later date and at the convenience of the family. Cremation was private.
