Great Dad & Ecstatic Grandfather –
Richard “Rich” Gregory Mills, age 68, of Mechanicsburg , died at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center while surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, December 18, 2014. Rich was born on Thursday, May 23, 1946 in Hackensack, New Jersey to the late Robert Gordon Mills and Anna Mae (Gross) Mills.
Rich’s survivors include his wife of 43 years, Eileen Mills; his beloved daughters, Heather K. Mills of Virginia; Elizabeth “Beth” Tressler, her husband, Kevin, and their daughter, Gretchen Louise, all of Alaska; his sister, Jane Pagnam and her husband, Tim, of Connecticut; his aunt, Betty Demarest, of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
Rich graduated from Paramus High School in 1964 and from Northeastern University in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. He worked locally as a truck driver for both J.B. Hunt Transportation and J.P. Donmoyer. Rich loved his job and enjoyed working hard. He was greatly respected by his colleagues and loved by those who were touched by his kind heart. An avid reader, he loved collecting books. In recent years, Rich pursued his passion for the outdoors and sportsmanship as a member of the Carlisle Fish and Game Association and the Mechanicsburg Sportsmen’s Club. In fact, Rich greatly enjoyed his many collections and always pursued his hobbies wholeheartedly with great passion. More than anything, Rich was an ecstatic grandfather, who cherished the time that he spent with Gretchen. He was extremely proud of his daughters’ success and relished in their achievements. All those who were blessed enough to know Rich will deeply miss him.
All are welcome to join Rich’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Monday, December 29, 2014, from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George Spangler officiating. Cremation was private and scattering will be at the convenience of the family. Rich’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Visaggio's Restaurant , 6990 Wertzville Road, Enola, PA 17025, immediately following the service.
