Robert Lee Janney
A Shining Light -
Robert Lee Janney, age 52, of Mechanicsburg passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Friday, November 5, 2021. Robert was born on Saturday, January 25, 1969, in Baltimore to Jay Barry Janney and the late Linda Barbara (Benn) Wilson.
Robert's survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Jean (Andrews) Janney; his two step-sons: Benjamin and Avery; his father, Jay Janney and wife, Marie, of Baltimore; his step-father, Herb Wilson of Lancaster; his two sisters: Leana Janney of Baltimore, Michelle Foels and husband, Greg, of Myrtle Beach, SC; his four nieces: Ellen Spunt, Shelley and Alyssa Foels, and Bethany Heinrich; and his two nephews: Atom and Orion Malul.
Robert graduated from Randallstown High School in Maryland as part of the class of 1987 and with honors from Baker College in 2004 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He was currently employed by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of the Inspector General, where he served as auditor in the Student Financial Assistance & Advice Group.
Robert was an unusually bright and kind soul - a shining light in the world, who was always there to lift others up. He loved sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, and was an active organizer of fantasy football leagues. He won a seat in the World Series of Poker (2009) and won the PA State Doubles Racquetball Championship (2017). Robert loved golf and regularly traveled to play on courses around the world - his favorite was St. Andrews.
Robert wanted his friends and family to know that he finished his bucket list early. All that was left, all that he wanted, was time with friends and family. Robert was a wonderful husband, stepfather, and committed family man. The legacy of Robert’s kind spirit, passion for sports, and mathematical mind will live on through us.
