Robert “Bob” B. Lambert, Jr.
A Loving and Caring Provider -
Robert “Bob” B. Lambert, Jr., age 94, of Mechanicsburg, joined his wife in Heaven on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. Bob was born on Sunday, December 17, 1922 in Lemoyne to the late Robert B. Lambert, Sr. and Olive (Byerly) Lambert. Bob was the widower of Hazel A. (Stouffer) Lambert, whom he married on August 1, 1945, and who died on June 25, 2014. In addition to his parents and wife, Bob is preceded in death by three sisters: Ruth Hoke, Louise Pluff, Grace Zuna; and his brother, Earl Lambert.
Bob’s survivors include his two sons: Jack Lambert and his wife, Ann, of Fort Worth, TX, Rick Lambert and his wife, Kathleen, of Mechanicsburg; his five grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; his two sisters: Dorothy Brocious of Colonial Park, June Cates of Egg Harbor, NJ; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob graduated from Lemoyne High School as part of the class of 1942 and proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a retired railroad employee with 43 years of service working for several companies. Bob also worked as an assessor and a building inspector for Hampden Township. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Lemoyne. Bob was a former cub master of Troop 196 in Hampden Township and a former president of the Assessors’ Association of Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Retired Pennsylvania Railroad Employee’s Club and of the Hampden Township Republican Club.
Bob was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and he watched every game that he could catch. He was a loving and caring provider for his family. Bob was always willing to help a friend in need or volunteer to his community. Most importantly, he was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother; he will be missed dearly by his entire family.
All are welcome to join Bob’s family at his viewing on Monday, January 2, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Dennis E. Fulk officiating. Bob’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at The Stage & Studio Café, next door to the funeral home, following the service. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Longsdorf Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.
