Robert "Nick" Eugene Hassler

Robert "Nick" Eugene Hassler, born on October 14, 1924, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, passed away on August 16, 2024 in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. He lived a remarkable life characterized by dedication, intellect, and service to his country.

Nick earned a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Gettysburg, where he was honored with membership Phi Beta Kappa, a testament his academic excellence. 

A proud veteran, Nick served in the 75th Infantry Division during World War II. His commitment to his country during such a tumultuous period showcased his bravery and dedication to the ideals of freedom and justice.

Nick's love for gardening was well-known among his friends and family, providing him with joy and a sense of peace as he tended to his plants, cultivating life and beauty in his surroundings.

He is survived by his son, Jeff, who will carry forward his legacy of wisdom and compassion.

Nick is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris, and two sons, Robert and Brian. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
