Robert “Bob” Allen Young, Jr.
Not a Bench Warmer -
Robert “Bob” Allen Young, Jr., age 76, of Mechanicsburg, went home to heaven where he was embraced by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, August 27, 2020. Bob was born on Wednesday, October 13, 1943, in Fayette, Alabama, to the late Robert “Al” Allen Young, Sr. and Vida Kate (Worsham) Young.
Bob’s survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Janet Mary (Richardson) Young; his two children: Lori Ann Young of Harrisburg, Robert Allen Young, III of Enola; his two grandsons: Justin Young, Zakiri Young; his great-grandson, Lincoln Young; and his brother, William Young of York.
Bob graduated from York Suburban High School as part of the class of 1962. He had attended York Junior College, Electronics Institute and later graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College, where he later taught. Bob spent his entire career in electronics with a long stint in telephony, specifically cellular technology. He enjoyed helping his son and grandson with science fair projects, and he instilled his love of ham radio and model airplanes in his son, who now shares the same interests with his son. Bob found a strong and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. His Bible was one of Bob’s most precious possessions. Bob deeply desired to lead people to Jesus, and he shared the Good News every chance he got. He encouraged people to not be a Sunday only “bench warmer”, but to get up and get into their faith. While Jesus Christ was the soul of Bob’s life; his wife, children, and grandchildren were his heart, and they will miss him very much.
