Robert “Bob” Elwood Beil

A Smart and Savvy Man -

Robert “Bob” Elwood Beil, age 89, of East Berlin, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, met his son and entered into Heaven together on Friday, November 16, 2018, peacefully in his sleep.  Bob was born on Tuesday, April 9, 1929 in Shiremanstown to the late Jacob Wilbur Beil and Cora Pauline (Hughes) Beil.  In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his brother, Jack Beil; his sister, Doris Gilmartin; and just one week ago, his son, Micheal R. Beil.

Bob’s survivors include his wife of 68 years, Justine “Tina” Odessa (Pease) Beil; his daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Wenger and her husband, Steve, of East Berlin; his daughter-in-law, Kelly Beil of East Berlin; his four grandchildren: Stephanie, Timothy, Joseph, Katie; his seven great-grandchildren: TY, Taylor, Bryce, Kaden, Jozlyn, Tinsley, Georgia; and his sister, Charlotte Sutton of Lemoyne.

Bob graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1948 and he served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He worked at AMP, Inc. in Harrisburg for 17 years then went on to own many businesses including a furniture store, tack shop, and grocery store.  Many will remember him for the numerous auctions he ran including horse, car, and merchandise sales.  Bob looked forward to and spent winters in Florida for 22 years.  He was a very generous man that helped many people.  Bob knew business; he was extremely successful, smart, and savvy.  Anytime his family had questions or needed advice, he was the one they went to.

All are welcome to join Bob’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Sunday, November 25, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Don Shenk officiating.  Bob’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to Myers - Buhrig) immediately following the service.  Cremation was private.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to everyone with Hospice of Central Pennsylvania (HCP) who so lovingly cared for Bob during his illness.
