Robert “Bob” Arthur Fogle, age 87, of Bethany Village in Mechanicsburg , passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 18, 2014. Bob was born on Saturday, December 4, 1926 in Harrisburg to the late John “Art” A. Fogle and Naomi (Ickes) Fogle.
Bob graduated from William Penn High School as part of the class of 1944 and enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduation. He was a World War II Veteran . After the war, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad , and subsequently worked for IBM for 30 years until his retirement. Typical of the “Greatest Generation,” Bob was a hard-working man, dedicated to his family. He was honest, compassionate and patriotic; and while a man of few words, Bob passed his values to his children by his own deeds.
Bob’s survivors include his wife of nearly 62 years, Dorothy J. (Armold) Fogle; his son, Robert “Bob” L. Fogle and his wife, Lynn, of Overland Park, KS; his daughter, Linda K. Fogle, of Phoenix, AZ; and his four beloved granddaughters: Carlyn, Lauren, Rustin and Kamryn.
The family will celebrate Bob’s life privately at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Reverend Dr. Charles H. Hostetter officiating. Burial will immediately follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Mechanicsburg, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard . Bob’s family is honored to serve as his pallbearers.
To honor Bob’s love of animals, he asked his family to suggest memorial contributions to Molly's Place Rescue , 5220 East Trindle Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of Bethany Village who so lovingly cared for Bob over the past several years.
