Robert “Bob” Edmund Koch
Robert “Bob” Edmund Koch, age 70, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Reading, passed away at Penn State Health, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Bob was born on November 23, 1952, in Pittsburgh to the late Kenneth Koch and Catherine (Fritsch) Koch.
Bob’s survivors include his wife of 47 years, Karen (Altenderfer) Koch, whom he adored with all of his heart; his two children: Matthew Koch and wife, Lori (Herr), of Springfield, IL, Kristen Koch of Carlisle; his two grandchildren: Nathan Hege and Lyric Koch; his brother: Kenneth Koch of Aspinwall; and his in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Bob graduated from Fox Chapel High School as part of the class of 1970 and from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1974 with a degree in Business. He had a successful career with the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board where he retired after 35 years of service. Bob was an avid sports fan and loved to cheer on all of the Pittsburgh sports teams. Bob and his wife, Karen, loved to travel to faraway places together. Bob cherished the time that he spent with his family and enjoyed helping Karen by supporting her passion to care for stray cats. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bob’s family will be celebrating his life privately. Cremation was private.
