Hard Worker –

Robert “Bob” Lee Sprowls, age 81, of Mechanicsburg, was reunited with his beloved wife on Saturday, July 17, 2021.  Bob was born on Tuesday, October 24, 1939, in East Finley to the late Oliver Sprowls and Elizabeth Jean (Martin) Surace.  Bob was the widower of Donna Marie (Voight) Sprowls, whom he married on October 17, 1964, and who died on December 3, 2020.  In addition to his parents and wife, Bob is preceded in death by his son, Baby Boy Sprowls.

Bob’s survivors include his two sons: Erich L. Sprowls and wife, Kristen, of Mechanicsburg, Kurt R. Sprowls of Mechanicsburg; his two granddaughters, Noelle and Rylee May; and his sister, Nancy Zimmerman of Halifax.

Bob graduated from William Penn High School as part of the class of 1957 and proudly served in the United States Army.  He worked as an electrician his entire life and was a member of the IBEW Union Hall #143.  Bob was also a member of the VFW and Blue Moon Cruisers car club member, which was a favorite activity he enjoyed with his wife, Donna.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Camp Hill.  Animals loved Bob and he loved them; they would always flock to him and follow him around.  He enjoyed feeding the little gaggle of squirrels every day that waited for him.  Bob was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and rooted for all the Pittsburgh teams, both college and pro.  He like playing tricks on others and being the practical joker to make others laugh.  Bob absolutely loved candy; it didn’t matter what kind because it was bound to be one of his favorites.  He also enjoyed his food; from the moment Bob woke up, he began planning that day’s meals.  Bob was well loved and liked by all of his neighbors.  Family was the most important aspect of Bob’s life.  He cared deeply for them and would do anything to ensure they had what they needed.  He worked hard to get his sons through college and see that they started their lives on the right path.

All are welcome to join Bob’s family at his viewing on Monday, July 26, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant Patti Vogl officiating.  Bob’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service.  Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of our parking lots.  Burial will follow the reception in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.
