Robert “Bob” E. Wilson, Jr.
Robert “Bob” E. Wilson, Jr., age 63, of Mechanicsburg, passed into eternal rest at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. Bob was born on Wednesday, February 18, 1953, in Harrisburg to the late Robert E. Wilson, Sr. and Mary Delores (Rush) Wilson. In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his brother, William John Wilson.
Bob’s survivors include his three daughters: Gwyndelyn Lipari and her husband, Keith, of Elliottsburg, PA, Brei Miller, Brittany Wilson; his two grandsons: Kalen LaCombe, Gage Miller; his four sisters: Bonnie Seely and her husband, Dennis Smith, of Enola, PA, Brenda Williamson, of Mechanicsburg, Bernice Stahl and her husband, Tim, of Mechanicsburg, Benita Berg and her husband, Michael, of Bel Air, MD; several nieces and nephews; and his caretaker and friend Paula Barrick.
Bob graduated from Mechanicsburg High School in 1972. As a teen, Bob worked at United Cerebral Palsy, assisting adults and children in his community by volunteering for outreach programs and special services. His interest in working with special needs developed into a passion and he continued to pursue his thirst for knowledge from Millersville and Shippensburg Universities. Bob achieved his master’s degree in education and administration. He retired from West York School District after many years of service in administration as supervisor of special education. Bob was devoted to educating and assisting those with special needs, particularly children with autistic needs. He was passionate about sharing his wealth of knowledge on autism on a much broader spectrum; working with children and their families in their homes gave him great joy, satisfaction and a sense of purpose. Bob had a true passion for the arts; especially music, film and theatre. He enjoyed performing in local productions as a young teen. His family warmly remembers Bob as a loving, caring, compassionate father, brother and friend who will forever hold a special place in their hearts and lives forever.
All are welcome to join Bob’s family in celebrating his life on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. with service to begin at 3:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George Spangler officiating.
