Robert “Bob” Lawrence Yost

Lived One Day at a Time -

Robert “Bob” Lawrence Yost, age 65, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Windber, passed away at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center on Friday, December 27, 2019.  Bob was born on Saturday, October 30, 1954 in Johnstown to Verna Adele (Snyder) Yost Jones and the late Richard Wayne Yost.  In addition to his father, Bob is preceded in death by his grandson, Henry Oliver O’Donnell; and his three siblings: Richard Yost, William Yost, and Catherine Yost.

Bob’s survivors include his wife of 44 years, Sharon Louise (Malzi) Yost; his two children: Lisa O’Donnell and her husband, Jerry, of Dover, Robert “Rob” L. Yost, II and his wife Kristin; his five grandchildren: Samantha Hicks, Robert Yost, III, Emma Yost, Rowan O’Donnell, Seth O’Donnell; his three siblings: Raymond Yost and his wife, Pienn; Gwen Miller and her husband, Denny; Eric Yost and his wife, Dawn; his wife’s loving family: Carol Malzi; Pam Heinrich and her husband, Ernie; Terry Malzi and his wife, Susan, Russell Malzi and his wife, Bonnie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob graduated from North Star High School as part of the class of 1973.  He retired in 2018, from Mechanicsburg Navy Depot, after many years of service.  Bob was truly patriotic, he loved his country and all that it stands for.  He was honored to serve his country in both the United States Navy and the United States Air Force and would have done it all over again. Bob was a craftsman and was proud to teach all that he knew about woodworking and making things to his son.  Loving and compassionate, patient and practical, supportive and encouraging; all qualities of Bob’s character that made him such a dedicated husband, father and friend.  His family and friends new him as a simple man, who was hard working and funny. Bob always had a joke and kept his sense of humor till the end.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
