Roger Lee Hughes, 55, of Lewisberry, died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Thursday, May 24, 2012. He was born in Harrisburg on Monday, February 4, 1957, son of the late Lester M. Hughes and Naomi M. (Taylor) Hughes. Roger was the husband of Tahnja L. (Roden) Hughes whom he married on August 20, 1988.
Roger was an over-the-road truck driver for Consolidated Freightways , Carolina and New Penn Motor Express . He was a member of Teamsters Union Local #776, GPAA and Williams Grove Historical Steam Engines. Roger loved gardening, playing guitar, being outdoors, spending time with his Border collie “Culpepper” and his son’s horses “Trigger” and “Zip,” and especially enjoyed time with friends, family and his two granddaughters.
Roger’s survivors include his loving wife of almost 24 years: Tahnja; his four children: Angela E. Hughes, Roger L. Hughes II, Roy W. Hughes, Rachael T. Hughes; two granddaughters: Kyra and Dixie; five siblings, Michael, Wanda, Linda, Dottie and Mary; his future sons-in-law and daughters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Roger in death is a brother, Richard Hughes.
All are welcome to join Roger’s family at his viewing on Thursday, May 31, 2012, from 7:00 to 9:00 and on Friday, June 1, 2012, from 9:00 until time of service at 10:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA, 17055, with Pastor David Yost officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Emanuel Cemetery in Lewisberry.
