Ronald “Ron” Norman Groff
A Strong & Loving Man -
Ronald “Ron” Norman Groff, age 67, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Lancaster, was embraced by his family in Heaven on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. Ron was born on Wednesday, October 13, 1954, in Lancaster to Shirley Ann (Wimer) Groff and the late Robert Levi Groff. In addition to his father, Ron is preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Bloom.
Ron’s survivors include his wife of 37 years, Linda Rae (Cekovich) Groff; his four children: Rhonda Ibraheem and husband, Eric, of Harrisburg, Cheryl Zortman and husband, Sean, of Etters, Corey Groff and wife, Lindsey, of Mechanicsburg, Kara Via and husband, Henry, of Camp Hill; his 15 grandchildren; his 12 great-grandchildren; his mother, Shirley Ann (Wimer) Groff of Lancaster; his brother, Dave Groff and wife, Betty, of Lancaster; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine companion, Bandit.
Ron graduated from Penn Manor High School in Millersville as part of the class of 1972. He worked at the family business, Papa Dino’s in Lancaster, for more than 20 years as a manager and one of the best pizza and stromboli makers. Ron also pursued various entrepreneurial endeavors such as tax preparation and heading up remodeling projects as a contractor. He was an avid NASCAR fan; his favorite driver was first Dale Earnhardt, Sr. then Dale Earnhardt, Jr. When Ron was able, he loved riding snowmobiles, motorcycles, and ATVs, and going swimming and hunting. The one thing he never stopped doing was riding his tractor and mowing the grass. Without fail, Ron was always fixing and improving things even if those were his projects from the beginning. At the end of the day, his family was closest to his heart; he treasured the time spent with them and his buddy, Bandit.
