Ronald “Ron” Eugene Ryan, age 71, of Mechanicsburg, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, August 24, 2017. Ron was born on Saturday, December 15, 1945 in Harrisburg to the late William “Ray” Raymond Ryan, Sr. and Helen Grace (Lindsey) Ryan. In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his sister, Mabel Brenneman; his sister-in-law, Mildred “Midge” Ryan; his nephew, Marlin “Lenny” Fry; and his niece-in-law, Donna Fry.
Ron’s survivors include his companion of many years, Beverly “Bev” Ammons; his brother, William “Bill” Raymond Ryan, Jr. of Florida; his six nieces and nephews: Mike Fry of Carlisle, Patti Williams and her husband, Garry, of Mechanicsburg, David Ryan and his wife, Kimberly, of Enola, Sheri Beere-Knisely and her husband, Denton, of Enola, Laurie McCabe and her husband, Joseph, of Enola, Erin Ryan of Florida; his dear friends, Dale and Donna Fishel of Mechanicsburg; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Ron graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1963. He worked for Harrisburg Steel which became Taylor Wharton until its closing. He then worked at his alma mater, Cumberland Valley High School, for a few years until his retirement. Ron was a former member of the F.O.E. #1299 and the Mechanicsburg Sportsmen’s Association. He was a true outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. Those who knew Ron will remember him as a private man who was always blunt and to the point.
All are welcome to join Ron’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating. Cremation was private and scattering will be at the family’s convenience.
