Rosemary (Menchey) Landis, 84, of Mechanicsburg , and formerly of York , died at home and surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 12, 2012. She was born in York, on Wednesday, March 28, 1928, daughter of the late F. Leroy Menchey and Mary C. (Wilson) Menchey. Rosemary was the widow of Donald “Don” Llewellyn Landis who she married on May 1, 1946, and who died on February 5, 1998.
Rosemary graduated from William Penn High School in York, as part of the class of 1946. She lived her entire life in York, until the last 10 months, when she resided with her daughter and son-in-law in Mechanicsburg. Rosemary worked at Campbell Chain Company , Colony Furniture , as well as other places. She was always interested in gardening and feeding the birds, and she dabbled in painting. Her true calling was interior design and collecting antiques, with a passion for antique dolls.
Rosemary’s survivors include her loving daughter, Carolyn Landis-Pittman and her husband Robert of Mechanicsburg; her grandson, Chad Cramer and his wife Angela of Knotts Island, NC; and her two great-grandchildren, Alivia and Logan Cramer. Among those preceding Rosemary in death is her brother, Fred Menchey.
The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to the wonderful “angels” at Home Nursing Agency in Altoona, who brought so much comfort to all of them during this difficult time.
All are welcome to join Rosemary’s family to share in the celebration of her life on Thursday, October 18, 2012, from 12:00 to 4:00 at her daughter’s home. Cremation was private.
