Roy C. Stare, Sr.
Roy C. Stare Sr., age 87, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away January 21, 2022, at Penn State Hampden Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Millicent “Millie” (Kohler) Stare.
Surviving is his son, Roy C. Stare, Jr. (Lisa Clapp-Stare); his granddaughter, Lauren McGalla (James); his two great-granddaughters: Paisley and McKenna; his two step great-grandchildren: Preston and Mayleianna; and his younger brother, Lee M. Stare; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was born on January 9, 1935, in Carlisle, PA to the late Roy E. Stare and Mary E. (Baker) Stare. In addition to his parents, Roy is preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn L. Stare.
Roy graduated from Mechanicsburg High School. He was a truck driver for Beachley-Hardy Seed Company for more than 40 years. In his retirement he worked at Super Pets for over seven years and always made sure he fed the squirrels out back. As a collector of stoneware and antiques, his passion was attending auctions. He went to these for over 60 years until the time of his passing. He liked going once a week for breakfast with his friends to try and solve the world’s problems. He was an active member of Shepherdstown United Methodist Church and went on many SOS (Seniors of Shepherdstown) trips.
All are welcome to join Roy’s family on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. for his memorial service at Shepherdstown United Methodist Church, 1934 South York Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Gene Liddick officiating. Roy’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church immediately following the service. Cremation was private.
