Ruth Miriam (Feuerstein) Finn
Strong Family Woman -
Ruth Miriam (Feuerstein) Finn, 88, of Carlisle , and formerly of Buffalo & New Orleans , died at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. She was born on Thursday, April 9, 1925, daughter of the late M. William Feuerstein and Christine (Mullins) Feuerstein. Ruth was the widow of Thomas Leo Finn whom she married on January 20, 1950 and who died April 29, 1995.
Ruth Feuerstein Finn was the beloved mother of six children, eighteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was a devoted wife to Thomas Leo Finn. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa, moving her family many times through Midwest, Northeast, and eventually to New Orleans to support her husband's career at Canada Dry. She raised six children, all college graduates and happily married. Her children include: Thomas Finn and his wife, Barbara of Buffalo, NY, Kathleen Finn Keller and her husband Chris of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Mary Theresa Finn Harmon and her husband Don of New Orleans, LA, William Finn and his wife Patty of New Orleans, LA, Patricia Finn Bumgardner and her husband Dan of Darien, CT and Margaux Finn Boyle and her husband Kevin of Marietta, GA. Her grandchildren Bridget, Tom, Sam, Annie, Margaux, Sulley, Eric, Dominique, Kathleen, Megan, Matthew, Tim, Kendall, Kelsey, Brendan, Connor, Brendan and Lauren will deeply miss her.
Her greatest gift to her children was her astonishingly deep faith. In 1995, just one week after her husband died, tragedy struck again. She lost all her possessions in the May flood of 1995. Through the grace of God, she persevered. She enriched our lives and our children’s lives. She went to our children's plays, games, and birthday parties. She helped to host our Crawfish Boils, Halloween Haunted Houses, and our family Christmas parties. She baked cookies and taught our children to play cards. She was the rock of the family, deeply invested in her all the children’s school activities. As her granddaughter Sulley said "We lost a wonderful woman today. She is remembered as everyone's biggest cheerleader. She made a very big difference in all of our lives. She will be dearly missed."
