Ruth (White) Grosz, age 93, of Mechanicsburg , died at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Thursday, August 7, 2014.  Ruth was born on Friday, April 22, 1921 in Cleveland, OH, to the late John A. White and Ruth (Leidigh) White.  Ruth was the wife of Mark Lewis Kost Grosz whom she married on April 5, 1942. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her daughter, Alice Perekovic: and her siblings, Alice Fortune, Sam White, and John White.

Ruth’s survivors include her husband, Mark L.K. Grosz; her children: Mark L. Grosz and his wife Jeanne of Mechanicsburg, Ruth J. Mersky and her husband Michael of Mt. Airy, MD;  her four grandchildren, Michael Jr., Laura, Kristin Westrick, and Thomas Grosz; her three great-grandchildren, Eric, Justin, and Brooke; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth graduated from Carlisle High School as part of the class of 1938 and from Carlisle Business School. She retired from the Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg.  Ruth was a pioneer of women working in the field of Information Technology.  She had a passion for learning and working with computers and associated technology, and she loved most any new thing that came along.  Ruth was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg.  She loved her church and was devoted to helping people through its ministries.  Ruth also enjoyed helping various social organizations like the Carlisle High School Classes of 1937 and 1938.

Ruth loved to nurture and take care of her husband and her children as a devoted wife and mother.  She encouraged her children and grandkids to learn and provided the opportunities for her children in education and various arts.  A meticulous and expert artist in sewing, knitting, crocheting and all kinds of needlework, she made beautiful clothing and other items for her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and many others.  Ruth told great stories about her parents and her childhood, of Great Depression times, and of early married years during and after WWII.  She greatly enjoyed traveling and seeing new places, especially in their camping trailer.  Together with her husband, they crisscrossed the USA a number of times.

All are welcome to join Ruth’s family at her viewing on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Michael V. Minnix officiating.  Burial will follow in Letort Cemetery in Carlisle, PA.  Honored to be pallbearers are:  Mark Grosz, Tom Grosz, Michael Mersky, John Grosz, Scott Westrick, and Alex Yokley.
