Ruth Marie (Hopple) Myers, 93, of Carlisle , and formerly of Wellsville , died at Church of God Home on Wednesday, September 19, 2012.  She was born in Mechanicsburg, on Monday, April 28, 1919, daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Hopple and Laura (Conner) Hopple.  Ruth was the widow of Robert “Gene” Eugene Myers whom she married on June 11, 1938.

Ruth loved cooking, especially Christmas and other holiday dinners.  The kitchen was said to be her domain.  Ruth greatly enjoyed planting flowers and gardening.  She liked watching television series and loved John Wayne and Johnny Carson.  Ruth was a private woman who deeply valued her home and family.  She was proud of her children and was always there for her family, giving of her time and love.

Ruth’s survivors include her loving children, Shirley Ann Bell and her late husband Floyd of Lewisberry, Richard Eugene Myers and his wife Ngan Ling “Susie” of Dillsburg, William Edward Myers and his wife Wanda of Wellsville; two sisters, Edith Miller, Minnie Noel; two brothers, Raymond Hopple, Edward Hopple; one grandson; six granddaughters; 13 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Among those preceding Ruth in death are her daughter, Rosemarie Myers; her granddaughter, Connie Louise Smith; her great-granddaughter, Athena Marie Wolfe; and two brothers, Roy Hopple and Benjamin Franklin Hopple, Jr.

All are welcome to join Ruth’s family at her viewing on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 and on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, from 10:00 until time of service at 11:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Reverend Bradley V. Moore officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.  Honored to be pallbearers are: Richard Myers, William Myers, George Bell, Ed Hopple, Charles Clemens and Clayton Wolfe.
