Ruth Susan (Davis) Radabaugh, age 100, of Enola, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away at Kinkora Pythian Home in Duncannon on Monday, March 30, 2020. Ruth was born on August 12, 1919, in Mechanicsburg to the late Edna Mae (Forney) Davis and James Hamilton Davis. Ruth was the widow of Russel Franklin Radabaugh, Sr., whom she married on August 1, 1942, and who died on October 31, 1996. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth is preceded in death by her grandson Patrick Franklin Radabaugh; her four siblings: Florence Rudy, Wilbur Davis, Joseph Davis and Catherine Yeager.
Ruth’s survivors include her two sons: Russel Franklin Radabaugh, Jr. and wife Candy, and Gary Radabaugh; her nine grandchildren; her 15 great-grandchildren; her two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Ruth became a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church on April 12, 1936, and remained an active member for the next 84 years; teaching Sunday School, keeping the treasury accounts for the “willing workers”, and making countless Easter eggs. Ruth lived a life filled with trials and tribulations. When she was only five years old, Ruth’s father was killed by lightning while plowing the family’s field. At age 10, Ruth left home to go to work to help support her family. Ruth became a great cook who prepared food for many notable people, including governors and other politicians. Ruth’s family lovingly remembers her as a humble, appreciative woman; a caregiver with a servant’s heart.
Ruth’s immediate services will be private with public services to be announced when scheduled. Private burial at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery in Enola will be held at the family’s convenience.
Ruth’s family has entrusted her care to Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory in Mechanicsburg, (717) 766-3421. Read Ruth’s full obituary, view her memorial video, and sign her official guest book at Buhrig.com.
