Ruth Elizabeth (Anderson) Sechrist, 80, of Camp Hill , died at LifeCare Hospital on Tuesday, December 18, 2012. She was born in New Cumberland, on Wednesday, July 20, 1932, daughter of the late Charles Henry Anderson and Mabel Elizabeth (Eckert) Anderson. Ruth was the wife of Raab R. Sechrist whom she married on April 12, 1991.
Ruth graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1950. She was a faithful member of Christian Life Assembly Church in Camp Hill, where she was a long-time member of Dick Malone’s Sunday School Class . Ruth was constantly and quietly doing important tasks to serve others. “Hers was a life of unselfish service to others.” Above all else, Ruth was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Ruth owned and operated Hampden House dress shop which allowed her to pursue her continuing interest in women’s fashion. Ruth was a decorative painter and member of Penn’s Woods Painters and she was active for many years in the Harrisburg Area Women’s Connection .
Ruth’s survivors include her loving husband of almost 22 years, Raab R. Sechrist; her son, Scott Markle of Mechanicsburg; her step-son, David Sechrist and his wife Debora of Perm, Russia and their daughters Karissa and Kiersten of Lynchburg, VA; her brother, John Anderson and his wife Pauline of Carlisle; and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Ruth in death are her two sons, David Markle and his wife Jayne, Steven Markle; her brother, infant Anderson; and her sister Lena Margaret Mentzer.
All are welcome to join Ruth’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Friday, December 28, 2012, from 1:45 until time of graveside service and burial at 2:00 at Chestnut Hill Cemetery , York Street and Winding Hill Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Pastor Ron Smith officiating. Ruth’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship starting at 3:00 at Christian Life Assembly , Women’s Plaza, 2645 Lisburn Road, Camp Hill, Pa 17011, following the burial.
The family suggests memorial contributions to either Christian Life Assembly or Bethesda Mission , PO Box 3041, Harrisburg, PA 17105.
