Always Cared for Her Family -

Ruth Ann (Lenker) Young, age 82, of Dillsburg, passed away peacefully at UPMC Pinnacle West Shore Hospital on Monday, December 16, 2019.  Ruth was born on Saturday, August 14, 1937 in Lisburn to the late George William Lenker and Martha May (Roland) Lenker.  In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her two daughters, Linda Ann Hanawalt and Barbara Jean Fahnestock.

Ruth’s survivors include her husband of 64 years, Clyde Richard Young; her son: Clyde Oliver Young and his wife, Tania, of Dillsburg; her grandson, Travis Tyler Young, of Dillsburg; her granddaughter, Ashley Renee Young and her fiancée, Justin Wentz, of Lewisberry; her great grandson, Kayson Tyler Young; her three brothers, George “Pete” Lenker of Lisburn, David Lenker of Lisburn, and Henry Lenker of Englewood, FL; her sister, Edna Deardorff of Enola; and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was a gifted and hardworking homemaker, who always kept a neat and tidy home.  She always made sure that her family was well cared for; and she cherished the days that her grandchildren spent with her, while their parents were at work.  Ruth was extraordinarily gifted at crochet and made many afghans, pot holders and doilies for her family and friends.  She also gifted many new parents with hats and blankets for their newborn babies. Ruth’s passion was for bingo and she made a point to play as often as she could.  Her family will greatly miss the love and support that she gave so freely.

All are welcome to join Ruth’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Friday, December 20, 2019, from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating.  Ruth’s family invites everyone to join them for a Time of food and fellowship at Hoss's Steak & Sea House, 61 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg immediately following the service.  Private interment will follow in Emanuel Cemetery in Lewisberry. Cremation was private.
