Sally Josephine (Breach) Liddick, 65, of Mechanicsburg, PA died at home with her husband by her side on Sunday, January 29, 2012. She was born in Mechanicsburg on Tuesday, October 15, 1946 daughter of the late James Edward and Sarah Josephine (Kibel) Breach. Sally was the wife of Thomas “Tom” Gerald Liddick who she married on September 3, 1966.
Sally graduated from Camp Hill High School as part of the class of 1964 and attended Harrisburg Area Community College. She was the founder and President of Barkleigh Productions, Inc. based in Mechanicsburg and owner of two professional pet service magazines: Groomer to Groomer and Pet Boarding & Daycare. Barkleigh also operates the largest pet care services show in the world, Groom Expo, and four other major industry shows: Groom & Kennel Expo, PetQuest, SuperGroom and the Northwest Grooming Show.
Sally was the recipient of four Cardinal Crystal Achievement Awards for Journalist of the Year and won the Dog Writers Association of America Grooming Journalist Award. She was a professional pet groomer for fifteen years and the daughter of a groomer. She is the author of a book entitled Taking a Different Path. Her business has been featured on TLC with a program called Extreme Poodles, and her events have been seen on numerous television programs and national magazines including People, The Today Show, Regis and Kelly, The Insider and more. She writes for her various magazines and has a column called, THE LAST WORD, in Groomer to Groomer.
Sally was extremely creative, very talented and enormously generous. She was a tough and driven woman who strove for perfection, otherwise known as “Sally’s Way”, and expected no less from those around her. Sally was a Christian and True Believer. She was a loving, devoted and loyal wife to Tom and best friend to Gwen.
Sally’s survivors include her loving husband of 45 years: Thomas “Tom” Gerald Liddick; her son: Thomas Gerald Liddick Jr and his wife Kimberly and their children Nathan, Isaiah and Rachael all of Grove City PA; her best friend and business partner: Gwen Shelly and her husband Bruce of Mechanicsburg; her caregiver: Ashley; three nieces and one nephew. Among those preceding Sally in death is her sister: Kathleen Breach.
Sally’s relatives and close friends are welcome to join her family at her viewing and Celebration of Life on Thursday, February 9, 2012, from 5:00 until time of service at 7:30 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA, 17055, (717) 766-3421, www.Myers-Buhrig.com with Reverend Ronald L. Horting officiating. Cremation will be at the convenience of the family.
